“From the outset my baby was never a great sleeper, and by around the 4.5 month mark we were absolutely exhausted and his sleep seemed to get even worse. After a series of nights where he was waking virtually every hour, we called Beth for some nursing support. Jackie was absolutely instrumental in turning things around. Initially she spent two nights with us. On the first night she observed our feeding and bed time routine and spent a couple of hours answering my (many!) questions, and then she let us sleep – the first night of sleep I’d had since he was born. We woke up to a happy baby and a very comprehensive set of answers to my questions, plus an age appropriate routine which we followed that day. I should note that the routine was a guide, and did not involve waking bub from any naps. I believe in following a gentle approach with regards to settling and sleep, and was very happy with how Jackie supported this. That night, bub slept through the night (a miracle!) and on the following nights the number of wake-ups dramatically reduced. Since then, Jackie has made a couple more daytime visits, each time we have seen a huge difference. She has consistently provided age appropriate advice on sleep, settling (her tips were amazing since my baby refuses the dummy and initially would only feed to sleep), suggested routines and the transition onto solids. There were so many changes going on between 4 and 7 months and she helped me manage those with confidence.
Bub is now 8 months old and he now regularly sleeps through the night, has two decent naps a day and loves his solids. Like all babies, we still have our bad days but I can say that most of the time he is now a brilliant self-settler – I can generally pop him in the cot and give him a kiss, and he will fall asleep (or better yet, giggle himself to sleep). There is no way we could have achieved this without Jackie. To us, she is worth her weight in gold!”
