“There is no one perfect way to be a good mother. Each situation is unique. Each mother has different challenges, different skills and abilities and certainly different children. The choice is different and unique for each parent and each family.”

Beth Barclay
With a natural affinity for babies and children, I started my career some 35 years ago by graduating as a Registered Mothercraft Nurse (with High Distinction, my first true path) with Tresillian Family Care Centre at Willoughby. Our training included working with a wide range of families including first time parents and newborns, twins, triplets, babies with reflux and other medical issues, premature babies, women with postnatal depression/anxiety, healthy parent/toddler attachment issues and even very sick babies needing respite. We also spent time working in Daycare Centres and kindergartens.
Upon graduation I was immediately recruited by the highly regarded Crown Street Women’s Hospital in Sydney. I worked on all the maternity wards, public and private, and in the Nurseries supporting and educating new mums on how to care for their newborns including establishing breastfeeding. In those bygone days, the hospital system operated differently and it was the Mothercraft Nurses who were rostered on the post delivery Maternity Wards supporting and educating new Mums.
Following my Nursing career, I have enjoyed several other customer focussed and mentoring based senior management roles. For the past 15 years I have been working as a private Early Parenting consultant. In 2010 I took the leap and established my own business (Parennis Trust T/as) Mothercraft for Babies and recruited a team of Nurses who shared my ethos and commitment.
Over the past 10 years we have established a trusted referral network of Health Professionals such as Paediatricians, Obstetricians, GP’s and Maternal Health specialists who refer their “little” patients to us at Mothercraft for Babies for further assessment, support and guidance.
Beth was nominated in the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards for the Nurse of the Year Award 2013
Our Nurses
My love of helping new parents become skilled and confident has been the driving force behind building this dedicated team of Tresillian or Karitane trained and qualified Mothercraft Nurses and Child and Maternal Health Nurses.
All our Nurses are registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) so we are held to account in a regulated industry and to current professional standards of best practice. They are suitably insured, thoroughly reference checked and carefully recruited to represent the values and beliefs behind the Mothercraft for Babies philosophy and approach.
They all have a depth of postnatal experience and usually multiple specialist Nursing qualifications. Their track record of success and client satisfaction is evident through the dozens of Testimonials and social media reviews over the past 11 years.
